HA! Texans Like To Drink, 1 in 3 Think Alcohol Is Healthy
It’s ironic I’m writing this seeing as though I had a long island to wash down my tacos for lunch earlier, but here we go!
The Survey Says
Rehabs.com, a website that provides resources relating to addiction and recovery, recently surveyed over 3,000 people. The results showed that 1 out of 3 Texans believe in the perceived health benefits of alcohol.
Ignore Them Telling You Not To Drink
58% of those polled admit they don’t even take notice when studies are released linking alcohol to health problems. My guess is they don’t wanna hear all of that!
Alcohol, The Cure To Everything
The participants were also asked what they thought the main benefits of alcohol consumption were. Of those polled, 46% said they thought it reduced an individual's risk of developing cardiovascular disease (to be fair, red wine does have some benefits), while another 31% believe that actually increased life expectancy. Another 15% were under the impression that alcohol prevents you from getting the common cold and lowered the risk of diabetes.
Boozing Until We Die
62% of those surveyed believe eating junk food is worse than drinking alcohol. The one thing that stuck out the most to me is that 38% of those said they would still continue to drink even if it reduced their life expectancy by five years.
