Interstate 35 at Standstill in Temple Due to Rain
As you've no doubt noticed, heavy rains haven't let up since late Monday night, and it's causing traffic headaches all over Central Texas. According to the National Weather Service, the Bell County Sheriff's Office reported over 20 roadways flooded in the county Tuesday morning.
Those who absolutely must travel this morning should avoid I35 if they can safely and reasonably do so. We're seeing standstill traffic all along I35 in both directions, and a portion of the highway near Exit 304 appears to still be closed after an early morning traffic accident.
Wherever you drive, take it slow and watch for flooded roadways. Please do not attempt to drive through any high water level areas. "Turn around, don't drown" is the phrase that saves today.
We've also had reports of a traffic standstill caused by flooding on Highway 317 between Old Cedar Creek Road and Franklin Road.
