The gift of a pet this holiday season can help brighten up a kid's 2020, but even if you are not in a position to adopt a pet full time, maybe you can become a foster parent to a furry friend.

The Humane Society of Central Texas in Waco is holding its "Foster Festivus" through December and according to a report from KCEN, they are looking for foster parents to take care of these animals until January 4th, or longer.

Fostering a pet through January 4th will give a pet a home for the holidays and will also help the Humane Society learn more about that animal. The pet also gets the attention they need to become more adoptable. That will also help them find their "forever home."

If you take part in Foster Festivus, you'll receive a free t-shirt and the Humane Society will let you borrow a kennel for the pet.

For those interested in becoming a foster parent, and taking part in Foster Festivus, to one of these needful pets, or if you just want to go and adopt a pet from the Humane Society of Central Texas, they are located at 2032 Circle Road in Waco. They are open from 11a  - 5:30p, Tuesday through Friday, and 10a - 4:30p on Saturday.

Visitors, including children under 10, must wear a mask and maintain 6 feet of social distancing at all times.
