Yikes – Soup Drama Continues in Temple, Texas as Trial Is Postponed
Remember the Temple, Texas soup thrower? Well, the suspect in the case that went viral last November is still awaiting trail now that proceedings have postponed.
WHAT HAPPENED AT SOL DE JASLICO IN TEMPLE?
Back on Sunday, November 7, Temple police responded to a disturbance call from the Sol De Jalisco restaurant at 4201 S. General Bruce Dr. When they arrived, they were told that an angry customer had thrown hot soup into an employee's face, then left the scene.
Video of the incident caught national attention and was posted to forums across the internet, but really gained traction on Reddit's r/PublicFreakout.
@bummynellyI hope this explains it! The video is on @section_8_ page. Again, please refrain from harassing or threatening this woman! Thanks again 💞💞 #menudo #restaurantlife #karen♬ Lofi nostalgic old music box(833007) - NARU
SOUP THROWING SUSPECT IDENTIFIED
On the Wednesday following the soup throwing incident, a woman by the name of Amanda Martinez was arrested in connection to the case and charged with assault causing bodily injury.
Unfortunately, other women named Amanda Martinez found themselves at the receiving end of some false accusations. Yikes!
WILL THE REAL AMANDA MARTINEZ PLEASE STAND UP TRIAL?
The Amanda Martinez accused of wasting perfectly good soup in a public freak-out was offered a plea deal that included a fine of $800, probation, and other undisclosed conditions. She threw that back in the prosecutor's face (sorry, couldn't help myself) and decided to take a chance on a trial that was supposed to begin today (June 27).
Well, that trial has now been postponed until September 12. KCEN-TV reports that her attorney asked for a continuance in order to deal with a pile of felony cases currently assigned to him. So, we'll all have to wait a little longer to see if justice is served. If Martinez is convicted, she could face up to a year in jail, a fine of up to $4,000, or both.
Maybe this delay will work in Amanda's favor, and maybe it wont. Either way, don’t forget to keep your hands - and your soup - to yourself.
