KWTX reported from the Associated Press that a 2-year-old girl was attacked by her family's dog in the Houston area this weekend.

The Brazoria County Sheriff’s Office said, "Deputies went to a home in Alvin on Friday afternoon after getting a 911 call."

The home of the family was around 30 miles south of Houston in the suburb of
Alvin; and authorities found the girl had been attacked by the canine while they were playing in the yard.

The girl suffered fatal injuries and died at the scene of the attack. The authorities reported the dog was euthanized on the scene, and will be taken to a lab for testing.
