KWTX's Avery Duffino reported that a chain-reaction crash on Interstate 35 in Waco sent five people to Central Texas hospitals on Thursday night.

The first crash that caused the chain reaction was from a fuel tanker, according to the Waco Fire Department.

The Waco Fire Department said, that the crash took place in the southbound lanes on the bridge located on Waco Drive.

The Waco Fire Department sent a tweet out that two victims involved in the crash had to be freed from the wreckage at the scene.

The chain-reaction crash led to a big backup of traffic in the southbound lanes of Interstate 35, and the Texas Department of Transportation was notifying drivers to be ready for delays.

There was no further information available at the present time on the status of those sent to the hospital, or the status of the other vehicles involved as well.
