Search for Missing Driver Enters Tenth Day
It's been ten days since a driver was swept into Clear Creek by flood waters near Turkey Run Road on Fort Hood, and searchers remain determined to find the victim.
In a media release, Fort Hood officials said agencies are following a deliberate search process focusing on areas where a person would most likely be found by this point, including dams and debris piles, as well as waterways including Clear Creek, Cow House Creek, House Creek, and Belton Lake, as well as surrounding terrain.
The missing driver was reportedly swept off the road before dawn on Tuesday, April 11. The driver's sedan was found empty later that evening.
On Saturday, April 15, Lori Pohanka-Kalama, a volunteer diver with the Morgan's Point Police Department, was injured while aiding in the search. She was rescued from House Creek, but passed away as a result of her injuries early Sunday, April 16.
